After having recently confirmed that the original core cast would indeed return, Danny Boyle has now seemed to reveal that shooting has begun on his much hyped Trainspotting sequel. The most recent update on the film had shooting slated to begin in May or June, but a post from Wednesday on the Facebook page “Humans of Edinburgh” says otherwise.
Seemingly by happenstance, Boyle was featured on an Edinburgh street, and was quoted as saying that he was there to film Trainspotting 2:
Given the fact that he was even approachable for something like this, it seems reasonable to assume that he’s simply scouting right now. That said, he certainly did use the word “filming.” Either way, it’s been said in the past that the project has an anticipated 2016 release, so maybe they’ve kicked things into overdrive in an attempt to make that date. The timing is perfect if they want to feature some new Iggy Pop music, anyway.
