Thanks to his golden pipes and love for Sam Cooke–style R&B, Leon Bridges went from washing dishes and singing in coffee shops to sitting for portrait sessions and filling theaters in an alarmingly quick span. With a little help from Justin Block and Austin Jenkins of White Denim, his Soundcloud recordings caught music industry attention and his debut album was released shortly thereafter. Coming Home introduced his vintage R&B flavor on an epic scale when it dropped via Colombia Records last year.

In the fourth episode in the Galaxy Barn Series, we are thrilled to premiere Bridges’ “Flowers,” one of that record’s few quick-tempoed tracks. Dressed down from his usual vintage suit and skinny tie, the crooner delivers a happy medium of energy, lingering somewhere between the raw groove of Kamasi Washington‘s Galaxy Barn performance and the power of A Giant Dog’s set, both which we’ve premiered over the past few months. The steady boogie and swinging saxophone on “Flowers” invite the audience, including street-side bystanders, to get down. Shine up your dancin’ shoes and check out the latest episode in the Galaxy Barn Series below.

Pickathon runs August 5–7 in Happy Valley, Oregon. You can watch more videos from the Galaxy Barn series here.
