Who needs coffee when you’ve got fandom?

As promised, the official teaser for the J. J. Abrams–helmed Star Wars Episode VII was released this morning and… oh, why don’t you just watch it for yourself?

Evil Cumberbatch voiceover? [UPDATE: maybe more like “evil Serkis” voiceover.]

So, in case you missed it (ha, like you did), we got our first look at our three main characters:

Here’s John Boyega in a storm troopers uniform looking really not-happy-to-be-there…

starwarsepisodevii-daisyridley
Daisy Ridley looking like the spitting image of a certain kickass princess we know…

starwarsepisodevii-oscarisaac
and Oscar Isaac behind the controls of a truly awesome-looking X-wing.

Droids!

starwarsepisodevii-tatooine
Wildly speculative Tatooine!

starwarsepisodevii-xwings
and more X-wings!

As the true timeline sequels for the original trilogy, the events of The Force Awakens will take place after where we last left Han, Leia, and Luke in Return of the Jedi. Abrams is no slouch when is comes to fantastic design and special effects in his films, and it’s really impressive to see such a strong continuity to the looks and feel of episodes IVV, and VI.

The film also stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, and Kenny Baker reprising their original roles and, as we saw above, Isaac, Boyega, and Ridley, as well as Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o, Adam Driver, and Max Von Sydow.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open December 2015.
