There are certain books that can resonate with you so much to the point of complete immersion into the fictional world. For many, Antoine De Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince is one of those books, whether it was read in childhood or later in life. The remarkable relationships between the narrator and the prince or the prince and his rose are as sad as they are heartwarming. It’s a book that also offers philosophical musings on growing up, friendship, love, perspective, and human nature that it’s easy to connect with it on a deep level.

It’s scary to have a beloved piece of literature be turned into film. So many things can go wrong, and they can ruin any cherished memories associated with the book. Luckily, the international trailer for The Little Prince looks magical and charming.

Director Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda) showcases the story of a little girl who meets an old man that introduces her to the story of the prince. The girl’s story line is portrayed in computer animation while the prince’s is in a paper-mache type stop motion. The result, a film that looks like it will tug at your hearts and fill your tear ducts.

The French version of the film will come out October 2015. There is no set date for the English version other than some time next year. However, it will feature an all-star cast including Ricky Gervais, Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, Rachel McAdams, and Benicio Del Toro.
