The Canadian-born Broken Social Scene is an indie rock band that sometimes swells to a lofty, crowded seventeen musicians—but their music somehow remains as intimate as a two-person duet.

Let’s Try the After – Vol 2  is BSS’s new EP—the companion to Vol 1, which was released in February. The first song off Vol 2, “Can’t Find My Heart,” is about contending with all of life’s complexities, always fighting to the bitter end.

“The theme is to continue,” says BSS co-founder Kevin Drew of the song in a press release. “Sickness, suicide, uprise, love, death, betrayal, hurt, joy, sex, communication, battles, and divisions … Let’s just get to their after and start building again. How do we do it within the isolation of self-prescribed empty popularity? How does the ego revolt? How does the heart win? Can it? Maybe after we will find out.”

Listen to the track below.

Broken Social Scene are fresh off an eight-show stint at SXSW this year—among the most memorable being our very own FLOODfest, at which BSS headlined Day 1 and played several songs from the new EPs, including this one, for sweaty Austin crowds.

Let’s Try the After – Vol 2 is set for release via Arts & Crafts on April 12. Both EPs will be packaged on vinyl and released exclusively for Record Store Day 2019 on April 13. Check out the band’s upcoming tour dates below.
