The first trailer for a forthcoming documentary about Leonard Cohen and his longtime muse Marianne Ihlen, Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love, has been released.
The film chronicles the pair’s romance on the Greek island of Hydra in the ’60s as part of a bohemian community of artists, writers, and musicians—an era of open marriage and “free love,” when Cohen was still a struggling writer. Marianne & Leonard also tracks the singer’s career trajectory and the evolution of his tempestuous relationship with Ihlen amidst his love affairs with other women.
