Record Store Day can make for strange—albeit inspired—bedfellows. Such is the case with this unexpected cover of Squeeze’s 1981 hit “Tempted,” the second single from the band’s East Side Story, by Erykah Badu.
The alt-R&B Soulquarian teamed up with The Roots’ James Poyser to give the song a bit of a jazzy, TLC-like feel with an ornate arrangement and prominent trumpet line. The cover was released by Yep Roc for Record Store Day 2019.
