Surf Curse like movies. They have songs called “Cronenberg” and “Heathers” and “Fire Walk with Me” and “Doom Generation” and now—in the year of the yee-haw—“Midnight Cowboy.” The second single from the September-slated Heaven Surrounds You, the Schlessinger-inspired track has arrived with the same glitzy, neon-soaked sheen the duo has been brandishing since 2017’s Nothing Yet, which is nicely complemented with a Vegas-lit video homage to the titular 1969 film.

The five-minute cinematic clip follows the pair’s video for lead-off single “Disco,” both of which were shot and directed by the band themselves (Jacob Rubeck and Nick Rattigan). Although they’ve maintained a consistent sound through their six-plus years as a band, their crisp videography is a far cry from the low-budget sounds of their lo-fi debut.

Heaven Surrounds You is out September 13 on Danger Collective Records. You can pre-order it here.
