Though best known (by me) for being Kylie Jenner’s baby daddy and appearing in this worryingly lackadaisical GQ video, during which he cannot remember the names of his girlfriend’s dogs and claims her eyes are “green, sometimes yellow,” Travis Scott is also a rapper.
Actor-turned-filmmaker Jonah Hill, who made his directorial debut last year with mid90s and then directed Vampire Weekend’s “Sunflower” video earlier this year, directs Scott’s new visual for “WAKE UP” (featuring The Weeknd), off his last album ASTROWORLD from August 2018.

The black-and-white narrative tails Travis as he traipses around a mansion where everyone but him is dead. There are a lot of corpses, who appear to have dropped down in the middle of a party. Did Travis go on a killing spree? Are they victims of some plague he has immunity to? Is this merely a metaphor for…. something? (Strangely, the song’s lyrics are about sex.)
Things get even more peculiar when champagne begins floating up and out of glasses like liquid snakes, and eventually Travis himself takes flight, along with some items of furniture. Elsewhere, statues crumble and bodies dissolve. What does it all mean? Who knows. Who cares. Watch below.
