It’s been just over five years since Tahliah Debrett Barnett—frequently known as FKA Twigs—released her groundbreaking debut LP1, a sensual deconstruction of R&B and club music as wonky as it was poetic. Today, Twigs is finally announcing a follow-up to that project, MAGDALENE, which also served as the name of her sold-out tour earlier this year.
Along with the news, Twigs has shared the first single, “holy terrain,” which boasts a verse from Future and co-production credits from Skrillex and Jack Antonoff—quite a way to introduce an album. As is the case with the rest of MAGDALENE, “holy terrain” was written and recorded by Twigs herself, though Nicolas Jaar is cited as contributing to much of the record as well.
MAGDALENE is out October 25 via Young Turks. You can pre-order it here, and catch Twigs on her next round of touring per the dates below.
