Last month, Jade Lilitri’s latest release as oso oso garnered him plenty of critical praise from respected music publications—though we all know the true mark of success is a horn-heavy ska cover, which the closer to oso’s 2015 record Real Stories of True People, Who Kind of Looked Like Monsters.... is being blessed with today courtesy of Jeremy Hunter’s Skatune Network project.

“This Must Be My Exit” is the latest single from Skatune’s forthcoming debut album Pick It the Fuck Up, a collection of covers of Counter Intuitive labelmates including Prince Daddy & the Hyena, Kississippi, Retirement Party, and Graduating Life. Resuscitating the lo-fi acoustic number with heavy guitars and percussion—and, of course, those horns—the blend of ska and emo feels uncannily natural.

“Ska and emo have both been my favorite genres to listen to over the years,” Hunter tells us, “so to have the chance to work with Counter Intuitive on the first official Skatune Network release, and to cover so many bands and songs by people that I love, was honestly one of the best first releases I could ask for.”
