It was just a few months ago that Glasgow’s Spinning Coin broke the news of a follow-up to their jangly 2017 debut Permo, the two-song 7-inch Visions at the Stars / Not a Dream released at the end of August. Today, the band has more good news in the form of a full LP set to be released in early 2020 via Geographic Records, an imprint of Domino run by The Pastels’ Stephen McRobbie.

Hyacinth will arrive February 21—and to tide us over until then, the Scots are sharing the record’s playful first single, “Feel You More Than World Right Now,” with an equally playful cartoon visual. Wavering vocals recite lyrics about love and war, which squiggle across the screen, playing into the themes for the record as outlined by Jack Mellin, one of the quartet’s three songwriters: “[Hyacinth is about] the need for love in an often very unloving world. Trying to find a balance of some kind between feelings of apathy, negativity, detachment and action, positivity and oneness.”
