For her ninth annual Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays benefit concert, Lauper brought the event to Los Angeles for the very first time. The singer and icon also packed a host of surprises, including a duet with Henry Rollins on “Rise Above,” the opening track from Black Flag’s legendary 1981 debut, Damaged. Watch a clip from the performance below.
The star-studded show also featured appearances from Kesha, Marilyn Manson, Billy Porter, Belinda Carlisle, Charlie Musselwhite, Dexter Holland of The Offspring, Perry and Etty Lau Farrell, Justin Tranter, Emily Estefan, Shawn Wasabi, Carol Leifer, Lily Tomlin, Gina Yashere, Margaret Cho, King Princess, K.Flay, and Greyson Chance. It was hosted by Carson Kressley and all proceeds went to True Colors United, which fights homelessness among LGBTQ+ youth in the LA area.
During the show, Kesha presented Lauper with the first-ever United Nations Rights High Note Global Prize. The honor celebrates recording artists for outstanding achievements in using their music and platform to advocate for social justice.
