Sleater-Kinney‘s newest music video proves that sometimes famous friends are the best kind of friends. For the first music video promoting their upcoming album, the trio asked some of their pals to lend their faces and pipes to the LP’s title track, “No Cities to Love.”
These chums include Fred Armisen, Brie Larson, Natasha Lyonne, Andy Samberg, Connie Britton, Miranda July, Sarah Silverman, Evan Rachel Wood, and Vanessa Bayer—just to name a few. Is this the greatest supergroup Sleater-Kinney cover band in the making? Only time will tell (but, hopefully, yes).
Within the three-minute video, the musicians, actors, and comedians come together to rock out to the track (mostly in front of their computer) and do their best Corin Tucker impression. The results are pretty fantastic, with special honorable mentions going out to Ellen Page for belting out the track on a Hollywood Hills hike, and J Mascis for bringing the harmonies.
No Cities to Love will be available on January 20 via Sub Pop.
