Grimes has never been conventional—even back in 2009 when she was still just renegade Canadian Claire Boucher and she teamed up with a friend to build a houseboat, loaded it with live chickens and twenty pounds of potatoes, and set sail from Minnesota down the Mississippi River to New Orleans as “Veruschka and Zelda Xox.” Yes, that really happened.

More than ten years later, Grimes is a radical cyber-pop star dating Tesla visionary Elon Musk, and pregnant with his child. Now it’s the couple’s unborn baby who’s making waves as the alleged star of newly-launched (and private) social media accounts under the moniker “WarNymph.”

Despite the private status of the accounts, some of the WarNymph posts have found their way into the public eye, and they’re just as strange as you’d expect—not necessarily the most hopeful, either, given WarNymph’s apparent preoccupation with death, destruction, and the end of the world.

After headlines arrived declaring “WarNymph” to be definite social media accounts for her fetus, Grimes responded with a tweet that doesn’t exactly explain all that much, but refutes the claims.

Hopefully, Grimes’ team is scrambling to put together some sort of explainer for those of us wondering what the hell is going on.
