No need to wait until Friday to get started sifting through the week’s top releases—Haitian-American rapper MOZIAH is sharing his abrasive three-track EP ZYEBOI in full today, serving as the first of two promised EPs arriving this summer from Marcus Moziah Guerrier.

Blending Vince Staples’ playful lyricism and delivery and JPEGMAFIA’s chopped up beats, the three songs on ZYEBOI are certain to require a handful of listens to fully absorb. “ZYEBOI is a time capsule for a genuinely chaotic and frustrating time to be in,” Guerrier shares, explaining where the busy sound of the project comes from. “It was written and largely produced by me, with co-production done by my frequent collaborator theodore [Theodore Shier]. The project features our good friends AANI, IDKHIM (Chuma Osse), yourszlf, and Still Gosling.”

He continues, “Originally it lived as a secret release. A prototype version was unlockable on our website through a three-digit code hidden within my second project, Finessa Hudgens. We held off from releasing it proper, until now. I wrote it during and about a stressful time in my life, when I was questioning my faith in some of the things in place. I feel that same energy coming in from the world with all the chaotic events from this year, so it felt important to drop it now.”
