This morning, A24 shared the first trailer for the Sofia Coppola father-daughter comedy On the Rocks, which reteams the filmmaker with the lethargic whiskey-sipping socialite Bill Murray of 2003’s Lost in Translation. With Rashida Jones playing Murray’s daughter and Marlon Wayans her husband, the film will be hitting Apple TV and theaters (?) in October.
Soundtracking the clip, we can hear the voice of frequent Coppola collaborators (in film and in marriage) Thomas Mars, whose band Phoenix has returned from a three-year silence to lend music to the film. The track heard in the video, “Identical,” has also been released in full with a visualizer depicting an item from the band’s merch table going up in flames. Let’s hope there’s no symbolism to read into there.
