Today, Baltimore battle-rapper-turned-studio-emcee DDm—or Dapper Dan Midas—is sharing his first new music since dropping the sobering The Ballad of Omar EP earlier this year, a visceral journey through 1990s Baltimore as a queer Black man. “Stop My Bag,” though, sees the rapper in a much different light—the upbeat, celebratory single is a much-needed escapist anthem for 2020, channeling the aggressive competitiveness of his battle-rap come-up.
“‘Stop My Bag’ is a defiant little bop about not letting anything block you from your goals,” he shares. “It’s about doing what you have to do to get the money!” You can hear that single below, along with two remixes of the track courtesy of Byrell the Great and davOmakesbeats, both of which play up the inherent danciness of the single.
