As summer begins to transition into Angel Olsen season, the songwriter continues to surprise us with new music—first via her reworking of last year’s All Mirrors, now with original music for the latest full-length film from Miranda July. Kajillionaire arrives on streaming this Friday with a soundtrack composed by The Last Black Man in San Francisco scorer and Human Love member Emile Mosseri. Among the tunes is a cover of Bobby Vinton’s “Mr. Lonely,” which features vocals from Olsen—who was handpicked by the director to contribute to the OST.

“Suddenly there she was. The Miranda July,” Olsen shared in a press statement. “In my text messages… I just so happened to be in Los Angeles. So I met with them both, and we talked about cadence and we talked about life and we talked about the film. And Miranda directed me to sing the cover in the way she and Emile thought it would represent the feelings behind the film. It was a lovely experience.”
