In case you missed it last night, rising roots-rock star Yola was the musical guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers, filling Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium with her rousing vocal take on Nina Simone’s “To Be Young, Gifted and Black.” It turns out the performance was just a taste of things to come—Yolanda Quartey also announced yesterday that she would be returning to the Ryman next summer for a headlining set.
Scheduled for May 11, tickets for the Ryman gig are already on sale. In the meantime, the singer-songwriter will be performing at PBS’s Grammy Salute to Music Legends 2020 on October 16 alongside Laurie Anderson, Brandi Carlile, Chris Isaak, Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires, and Cyndi Lauper.
