Not that the genre is a particularly uplifting, but there’s always been a certain darkness to Mint Field’s music that extends beyond shoegaze’s inherent gloominess. Sentimiento Mundial, the group’s second full-length and first for Felte Records, recontextualizes their psych-tinged sound within their new label’s history of celebrating groups that occupy the shadow of whatever genre they most closely align with.

Over the record’s eleven woozy tracks, the band wanders between somber post-punk and decompressed jazz, guided by the Spanish-language vocals of cofounder Estrella del Sol Sánchez, who recently relocated the band from Tijuana to Mexico City. With early single “Contingencia” proving a cryptic entry point to the new project, a full-album stream of Mundial certainly won’t offer any answers.

In any case, the record is available to hear a day early below—make sure to pre-order it via Felte here.
