After cancelling their programming for the entire year for the first time in their 98-year history, the LA Phil managed to keep their audience engaged these past few months with their weekly SOUND/STAGE virtual series, providing streaming video and text accompaniment to viewers across the globe in lieu of the annual live event. Today the Phil is announcing their next endeavor: another weekly series, this time highlighting some of the best performances at the Hollywood Bowl Summer Concert Series over the past few years.

In Concert at the Hollywood Bowl will premiere January 15 on PBS and air every Friday through February 19, showcasing memorable sets from Kristin Chenoweth, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Kamasi Washington, Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, Cindy Blackman Santana, Misty Copeland, Café Tacvba, Katy Perry, Pink Martini, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, John Williams, and plenty more—including, of course, Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

“The LA Phil is an iconic institution, and experiencing the summer concert series at the Hollywood Bowl is an unforgettable moment for so many Angelenos,” shared Juan Devis, Chief Creative Officer of sponsor KCET. “We are excited that this collaboration will help bring arts and culture to millions of viewers at home during a time when it’s needed most by our community. Southern California is home to one of the most important cultural communities in the world, and we have an undeniably important responsibility to share these iconic performances from past years with the community and with audiences nationwide.”

The program will air weekly on Fridays at 6 p.m. PST on PBS, and on the PBS app. Find more details here.
