Last year, Gabriel Garzón-Montano released his sophomore album Agüita, the follow-up to his 2017 debut Jardín. Now, one of the album’s singles has gotten a makeover from producer Armando Young and with the help of Jamila Woods. “Armando is a beast and Jamila is a monster so I was in the most loving hands. I’m honored to present this ‘Someone’ remix,” Garzón-Montano shared in a press statement. Young, who has worked with Garzón-Montano since 2012, adds more body to the track with a reggaeton beat and subtle piano details. Woods’ vocals fit seamlessly against the luxe, old-school background as she details a wilted affair.

Woods, whose last album Legacy! Legacy! came out in 2019, commented, “I’ve been a big fan of Gabriel for a while and it was so fun to re-make this song with him! The lyrics are so visual and vulnerable and the story of the song really resonated with me. Armando’s remix brought such a good energy and made it one of those songs that invites you to dance your feelings out.”
