Almost a year ago, the iconic East Nashville venue Basement East was taken out by a tornado—a not-so-subtle foreshadowing of what was to come for the live music community a week or so later when the rest of the nation’s venues closed their doors indefinitely due to COVID. While those doors remain closed today, the good news is that Basement East will likely be back in business by the time everyone else is, as can be seen in the background of our latest “Neighborhoods” session featuring Nashville native Aaron Lee Tasjan.
Perhaps Basement East 2.0’s first official show, Tasjan showed off the venue’s lovely new sign before launching into two tracks from his LP Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! which arrived last Friday.
