In the time since NY-based art pop architect (and Rubblebucket member) Kalmia Traver released her debut record as Kalbells, the project has expanded into a collaborative affair, enlisting a backing band of musicians whose resumes also include stints in Okkervil River, Sad13, and Body Language for their latest LP, Max Heart—not to mention engineering work from Luke Temple. Their latest single, though, expands upon this collaborative spirit, calling in viral rapper Miss Eaves—whose work with “Thunder Thighs” and “Belly Bounce,” among other extracurriculars, you may remember—to deliver the track’s closing statement on fuckbois.

“This song is about escaping a romantic pickle by grudgingly accepting getting one’s ego chopped down, or at least chopped back,” the band explains, “and then realizing the whole experience can be kind of fun, sadistically, but also existentially thrilling and weirdly healing. For the second verse Miss Eaves and I had a long conversation about fuckbois and then she turned around this glistening cave of pickle puns and our mouths all dropped to the floor and we all fell in love with her.”
