A lot has changed in five years...well, a lot has changed in just one year. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the influential musicians we just under a year ago was John Prine. Despite this tragedy, we were lucky that up until his passing, the songwriter was sharing new music—and even performing it—after recovering from cancer twice in the past few decades. In 2017, Prine was gearing up to release his final album, 2018's The Tree of Forgiveness, and played a unique set at the Newport Folk Festival alongside friends Justin Vernon, Jim James, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff, Lucius, and Roger Waters. Now, you'll be able to experience that once-in-a-lifetime set with a two-record vinyl set.

Exclusively through Newport Folk Fest, with the support of the Prine Family and Oh Boy Records, John Prine and Friends Live At Newport Folk 2017 will be available for pre-order and expected to ship this October. The proceeds from the album will support the Newport Festivals Foundation’s ongoing initiatives to aid musicians in need during the pandemic and music programs across the country.

Pre-order for the vinyl starts tomorrow at 8 a.m. PST.
