As far as marketing solutions go, Air Jordan’s Sneaker Packs model is a brilliant idea for cashing in on sneakerheads’ indecisiveness while sparing those consumers the ritual of drawing up a pros and cons board to select between two appealing sets of kicks. It’s an interesting concept to apply to music, but I suppose it relieves Chicago rapper Matt Muse of the struggle of picking which single to drop every month through June, while providing his listeners with double the hype.

What Muse is naturally calling “Matt Packs” kicks off today with dual singles “Rockin’” and “Bridges,” a triumphant return from the emcee following his 2019 EP Love & Nappyness. “I found the joy in just writing raps to write them again as opposed to creating toward a set goal,” he shares. “Now, I’m back in my bag. I’ve found joy in making music for the sake of creating something I love and hopefully toward sparking something in the listener as opposed to creating to get on or whatever other reason. I’ve realized that as an artist, I have the power to be a messenger for the times that my people are living in, a voice to cement this time in history and share the stories of those on the ground fighting for what’s right.”

Both tracks are smooth, flow-heavy singles building upon what Muse constructed with his last release. Hear both below for the price of one, and anticipate more from Muse over the coming months.
