The 57th Grammy Awards went down yesterday at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, and as is per the course for “Music’s Biggest Night” (emphasis on the quotes), it was surprising, predictable, strange, and straight-forward all at the same time. Once again, Kanye managed to maneuver himself into the headlines (all in the name of humility, of course), but the real story was Beck taking home Album of the Year for Morning Phase and Sam Smith cleaning up across the board for In The Lonely Hour and “Stay With Me” (though Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne probably should have accepted the awards themselves).
