Ricky Montgomery is among the rare breed of artists who’s achieved a career through Vine, released an impressive debut album, waned from the public eye, and, to complete the cycle, had his music take off again on TikTok. After nearly calling it quits on a music career last year, the LA-based artist instead linked up with a few of his peers—Chloe Moriondo and mxmtoon—for rejuvenated versions of tracks from that debut LP, and signed with Warner Records with the promise of future releases on the horizon.
He also picked two tracks from Montgomery Ricky, the aforementioned debut, to perform for his “Neighborhoods” set, the first being the track he duetted with Moriondo, “Mr. Loverman,” and the second “My Heart Is Buried in Venice.” Check out the full performance below, and find out why, exactly, Montgomery’s backyard isn’t the thriving garden of his dreams.
