A few days ago Dave Grohl hyped his new documentary about life on the road as a touring musician with a cover of X’s “Nausea” (complete with album art mimicking that band’s Los Angeles cover, with the “X” swapped out for a flaming “G”) with his daughter Violet on vocals. Last night he took that track to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage, enlisting Slayer’s Dave Lombardo on drums, producer Greg Kurstin on keys, and Grohl’s former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic rounding out the ensemble.
The performance arrives a few days ahead of the official release of What Drives Us, which lands on Amazon Prime this Friday, and which features interviews with the likes of Pat Smear, Ringo Starr, Flea, St. Vincent, Slash, Ben Harper, The Edge, Lars Ulrich, Steven Tyler, Ian Mackaye, and X’s own Exene Cervenka. Watch the performance below, as well as a trailer for the film.
