Tim Atlas makes sunny, self-reflective pop songs that would be good company alongside Rex Orange County’s vibrant ballads and Omar Apollo’s soulful, funk-inflected croons. His latest single “Courtside,” a fantasy-driven pop track with strum-slapping acoustic guitar and muffled horns, comes with the news of a five-track EP Quota out July 9.
Atlas details his latest single: “This song is about love. In sports, it’s so farfetched to get courtside, seats and this is about getting someone out of your league. Exuding confidence and being yourself!”
The song’s accompanying video matches the single’s light-hearted tone. Directed by Jessamine Fok, it’s filled with bright yellows and blues and features a young boy in workout gear singing into a flower and painting a portrait of a smiley-faced basketball.
