Last year, Omar Apollo released his debut album Apolonio, which solidified him as one of the most innovative acts today, combining R&B and funk with a psychedelic pop sheen. Today, the skilled crooner is back with his first single of the year called “Go Away.”

Apollo captures the sentiment that time moves differently when separated from a loved one. He shows off his shimmering falsetto during the chorus, singing “There’s something in the way I feel your skin / I just don’t see you enough / I wish I saw you enough.” “Go Away” is a vulnerable admission that distance really does make the heart grow fonder.

The new single comes with a beautiful Jenna Marsh–directed video. There’s imagery of flowers blooming, Apollo strutting around a campfire and hanging out in a lush greenhouse. You can watch the video below and check out his upcoming tour dates as well.
