This past April, Rachel Chinouriri released a great EP titled Four° in Winter. Not wasting any time, she’s returned today with a new single “November” that features London-based musician Hak Baker. The satiny vocals from Baker and Chinouriri weave through each other seamlessly, detailing heavy personal tolls in fleeting images. It’s a dreamy track with melancholic undertones.

“Making ‘November’ with Hak was such a fun and easy experience,” Chinouriri said of the collaboration. “It felt like I was making a song with an old friend of mine despite just meeting. Hak and Dan (the producer I work with) started playing some guitar and I just started singing the chorus and it formulated so perfectly. It’s a fun track and reflects on our own challenges individually in the world and goes back to the ‘too hard’ themes. I speak about being disrespected by someone and finding it hard to gather my thoughts and I feel like this reflects in Hak’s verse as well.”

Baker added, “The song is a reflection of the modern day. It was important to work with another Black artist, especially another whose music breaks cliched boundaries of what Black artists should be doing. The track feels free and empowering. Important for the time of today.”

“November” comes with a striking video directed by Sekou Abineri. Watch it below.
