While Atlanta’s long been credited with supplying the 21st century garage rock revival with the Black Lips, the city boasts a rich scene of fuzzed-out rock music beyond that group’s discography. While there’ve certainly been younger bands cropping up since the Lips, Gringo Star has been cruising in that band’s shadow since the release of their debut album All Y’All back in 2008 (a time when band names punned on celebrity names, rather than swapping the first letters in them). A decade later, the four-piece dropped their Back to the City LP, which, until today, was the most recent studio output from the band.

The track that changes that, “I’d Find You Again,” was introduced to us earlier this year via an appearance on Atlanta Public Access TV, but today we’re getting the proper studio recording, which will hit streaming services tomorrow. The track arrives ahead of a new record promised for 2022, with the band’s Nick Furgiuele stating that the track derived from a single, simple impulse: “When we started working on this song, the only thing I knew I wanted was autoharp,” he shares.
