What's the Furthest Place From Here?, a comic written by Matthew Rosenberg and illustrated by Tyler Boss, is getting a special soundtrack for its forthcoming issue. In the past, the "post-apocalyptic coming-of-age" series has recruited Joyce Manor, Screaming Females, and Chubby and the Gang for deluxe editions that come with vinyl releases. Now the forthcoming seventh issue features Sharon Van Etten taking on Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt," while Julien Baker will be covering Smashing Pumpkins' "1979."

Rolling Stone shared an exclusive look at the comic, along with a comment from Rosenberg. “Having Julien Baker and Sharon Van Etten record songs is really beyond anything we could have hoped for” he said. “Tyler and I regularly listen to both of their work while making this book, so having them provide the actual soundtrack for the issue has been really surreal in the best possible way.”

That's some very exciting news! The unfortunate bit is that we might not get to hear them until the comic's release on September 14. You can pre-order the comic and vinyl package here.

In the meantime, check out the tour dates for Baker and Van Etten, who are going on a co-headlining tour with Angel Olsen this summer. Hey, who knows, maybe you'll get to hear these new covers live.
