Last spring, Brooklyn’s Native Sun caught our ears with the heavy stoner-rock track “Jesus” and its cultish visual accompaniment. After releasing another pair of singles, the group is back with a proper EP set for release in October via Grand Jury: titled Off with Our Head, the collection was produced by Walter Schreifels of Gorilla Biscuits and Quicksand, who lends these six tracks a bit of that intense energy.

Off with Our Heads is a spot-on title, especially after watching Native Sun go so fully primal in the studio, the urgency of each track is palpable,” Schreifels shares. “As a fan there’s an electricity to Native Sun’s live show that we wanted to capture for this recording, after five intensely creative and fun filled days we got that and more. On the strength of Danny’s lyrics each song paints a picture and the musical chemistry and excitement flows throughout.”

Ahead of the EP’s release, we’re also getting a first taste with the high-energy garage-punk single “There’s Revolution,” which arrives with another music video dabbling in religious themes as the lyrics call attention to the regressive political state our country heads in. “[It’s] a sentiment that feels even more relevant in our country’s current state,” the band added. “We know this, it’s what we're supposed to do as a species—advance ideas, not support regression. Don't accept the old, get rid of it. The track questions as a whole our inability to progress and the commodification of idealism to prevent it. If there's not a rebellious questioning, there's no culture at all. It is essential. It is the future.”
