Turnstile conquered Los Angeles with two packed-to-the-rafters sold-out performances at the Hollywood Palladium and Shrine Expo Hall this week, along with support from Snail Mail both nights. Emerging out of Baltimore's hardcore scene over a decade ago, it has been a wild year-plus for the band since 2021's Glow On album catapulted them into unexpected success, topping year-end polls (including FLOOD's 2021 Album of the Year) along with prominent festival billings. They stood out at This Ain't No Picnic in Pasadena in August, building momentum for their own headlining shows here, and from the looks of the enraptured crowd at the Palladium, they could have added several more nights. As they entered the stage to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"—which they have been doing throughout their tour—it was clear the place was ready to erupt, with the crowd going completely ballistic for the next hour as they worked their way through a relentless 17-song set.
