The electro-pop duo LANNDS first landed on our radar back in 2021 when their warmly floral single “In the Garden” arrived alongside the news of their signing to Run for Cover, who shortly afterward reissued their recent EP lotus deluxe. Since then, Rania Woodard and Brian Squillace announced their debut full-length Music for the Future for the label, its singles pushing forward the alluring glow of past releases to a sound more in line with the promise of the album’s title.
Before the record drops this Friday, the duo are sharing one last pre-album single with “Vega,” a song LANNDS tracked while holed up in a remote Georgia cabin for a songwriting retreat that helped shape a good chunk of the self-produced, self-recorded, and self-engineered LP. “The first lyric that came to mind was ‘You and I, we were never through,’” shares Woodard of the single, which woozily touches upon unspoken feelings between two individuals with Woodard’s falsetto gliding over a bass-heavy psychedelic beat. “Maybe you and another person still have feelings and things left unsaid, but because of the different paths you both are on, it isn’t or will never be the right time, a moment in time gone.”
Hear the track below, and pre-order Music for the Future before it drops this Friday here.
