It’s been over a decade since Trevor Hedges first formed Sundressed, and his initial goal of using the outfit to amplify his struggles with mental health in hopes of helping others manage their own struggles is still at the core of their soaring pop-punk compositions. After signing with Rude Records and releasing their second LP Home Remedy during the most turbulent year in recent memory, Sundressed are powering through with yet another anthem for curbing anxiety with their latest single “Bad Drugs.”
Recreating the now-familiar formula of catchy hooks and honest depictions of the road to recovery, the new track (featuring Arizonan peers City Mouth) hones in on Hedges’ process of finding the right medications for his mental health. “Though I think it was absolutely worth it, it took a long time for me to get to the place I am today,” he shares, “and I hope this song can make some people feel less alone in that journey.”
The track arrives with a music video that (presumably) exaggerates the side effects of the wrong medications (I’m not a doctor, but probably don’t take a swig of anything prescribed to you that has “Feeling Anxious” scribbled across the label in magic marker) which turn everyday life into a unique form of hell.
