After closing in 2020 due to the pandemic, Hermosa Beach’s Saint Rocke venue reopened this year under new ownership, and has already booked a head-turning slate of local icons such as Black Flag, The Aggrolites, and Descendents. But among the most interesting performances so far took place last week when Descendents’ frontman Milo Aukerman took the stage with his daughter Claire Andreasen for a seemingly impromptu performance of the Blondshell single “Salad.”

This morning a video surfaced (and was posted to Reddit) of the May 17 performance, in which Andreasen can be seen reading the lyrics off her phone while her dad strums through the track on ukulele. In spite of some technical difficulties, and some less-than-ideal acoustics favoring a chatty audience, it’s fun to see Aukerman plugged into the current generation of buzzy young songwriters.
