Liza Anne has released their third studio album, Utopian, today via Antifragile Music. To celebrate the project, Anne has shared a music video for standout cut “Thank You for Your Time.” In the visual, Liza unveils some DIY and home video-inspired clips, featuring them and their girlfriend living their lives. In the visual, they interact with horses, play with cats, and do some cooking. The sweet images interact delightfully with the song’s swirling strings and classic soul groove.
“It is so strange to experience the projection forward from the place I projected myself to—when I wrote Utopian—the entirety of its contents were a hope, a manifestation, a curiosity towards how things could be,” they share. “I imagine a world where I was out and experiencing love that made sense to me. When I wrote ‘Thank You for Your Time,’ I imagined a love that knew how to meet me right where I was. A love that led with intuited care and understanding that held me when there were not words. I have never known a love like I am growing with my girlfriend, I have never felt so soft or open to breaking myself open for the sake of blooming something real. It is like the love we share is widening even my biggest capacity for loving and dreaming. It is a love that feels like it gives me wings.”
Written over three years ago, for Liza, Utopian was the safe space they created for their queer experience while still being closeted and in a relationship that was actively inhibiting their true self. Check out the visual for “Thank You for Your Time” below, and buy Utopian here.
