Dinosaur Jr. recruited My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields to cover The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven” on Tuesday night during the third evening of the band’s London residency at The Garage. The groups, who have shared ties for a number of years, also played MBV’s You Made Me Realise track “Thorn” with Dinosaur Jr.’s Lou Barlow on vocals.
Barlow posted a photo of him, Shields, and Dino Jr. frontman J Mascis to his Instagram to document the night, writing, “in a noise sandwich! Kevin, me and J last night of the Dino J -Where You Been- shows.. I sang MBVs Thorn , Kev played Tarpit..not sure what else I’m aiming for in this lifetime..”
In other Dino-related news, J Mascis announced his first new solo album since 2018 earlier this week, with What Do We Do Now set to be released on February 2 via Sub Pop. In the meantime, check out Barlow’s post and a couple videos from the gig below.
