In Run the Jewels‘ last video, for “Close Your Eyes (and Count To Fuck),” a police officer and a suspect grappled physically in the streets in a raw, visual example of the ongoing conflicts between cops and citizens in America. Now, the duo tames down the tension, still delivering powerful commentary, in their latest, for Run the Jewels 2 track “Early,” featuring Boots. Animated by Bugs and Sluzzy, the stark video illustrates El and Mike’s lyrics next to depictions of their characters put into literal cages, as well as breaking free of socio-political ones.

In other Run the Jewels news, yesterday, El-P Instagrammed the first audio of the duo’s upcoming Run the Jewels 3.
