All City Jimmy, the Project Blowed–affiliated LA legend formerly known as Nocando, has shared a music video for “Illuminati.” The track kicks off his recently released new EP, Westside Boy, Vol. 2. On the cut, the former battle rap superstar spits over woozy synths, bubbly bass notes, and guitar playing from Jimmy himself, while the beat was produced by indie staple Taydex. Jimmy recalls his early days in the rap world: “I was off molly, off shrooms with the day-one bros, it was no day-twos / Reminiscing on the days we was broke and uncool / Now they wanna get close, motherfucker who are you?”

Regarding the track and the project it appeared on, Jimmy shares, “Taydex and I started working on Westside Boy, Vol. 2 at the same time I was working on some self-produced stuff and I had to make sure to approach the collaboration in a different headspace, a fun one precisely. One song was written after a battle rap event, another after a strip club night, another a house party with the homies. ‘Illuminati’ was the first joint we made and was written after going to a nightclub in Hollywood my homegirl invited us to and felt like we were the only locals...it was a trip. I felt like I knew a secret that no one else knew. I guess that’s why it’s called ‘Illuminati.’ These songs are freestyle-based so I guess that’s what I was saying.”

The accompanying video directed by All City Jimmy, with camera work from Sudan Archives and additional shots, plus editing duties, handled by Kyle “Avocado” Grey was filmed at an LA beach called Dockweiler and in Tokyo’s Shibuya square.
