V.C.R, the recording project of Veronica Camille Ratliff, has shared a live performance video of “Minnie Lives” from LEAVING Records’ Listen to Music Outside in the Daylight Under a Tree event. The visual, directed by Theo Jemison, comes at an exciting time for V.C.R, who was featured on the recent instrumental André 3000 album New Blue Sun.

“As a singer, composer, and performer, I am so grateful to be a part of the Leaving Records Family,” V.C.R shares. “This park concert series has been the highlight of my career in Los Angeles. This particular concert was the first time Leaving decided to have it at that Elysian Park. Now, I have performed in gardens and parks before, but this day just felt different. I can remember setting up my violin and praying with my band as I always do so we are all on the same page.

“As a perfectionist, before a show, I usually count steps in my head, overthinking the minute-by-minute play that I carefully rehearsed. This performance just felt different. There was a moment when I looked into the crowd and I saw how calm but eager everyone was to hear what I had to share. That harmony between the audience and the performer plays a pivotal role in how the show will go. For once, I felt calm and confident, no jittery stomach. In this arena, I didn’t feel the need to prove my worth. When I opened my mouth to sing the first note of ‘Minnie Lives,’ an ancestral strength filled my body and I knew this was going to be an amazing show.”
