Slowdive returned in a big way last year with Everything Is Alive, the dream-pop icons’ first album since 2017’s self-titled release. When we caught up with band leader Neil Halstead leading up to the LP’s release, he shared that the seeds of the record were far more experimental than the finished product, which took new shape when the full band got involved. “It wasn’t Slowdive music when we started, but I think when you work on it with the band, it becomes Slowdive music,” he shared.
The band appears to be keeping busy in 2024, with plenty of tour dates announced the world over—including a string of dates in the US alongside darkwave duo Drab Majesty, with whom Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell recently recorded. Before then, the band put together a playlist for a new episode of FLOOD FM’s “Hacked,” introducing tracks ranging from dreamy rock classics by Cocteau Twins and Spacemen 6 to recent tracks by torchbearers such as Nation of Language, Deary, and da Googie—the latter of which being a new side project from My Bloody Valentine bassist Debbie Googe.
Catch the full episode every day this week (January 8 to 12) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PT only on FLOOD FM.
