Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade (and, for the true heads, Divine Fits, Handsome Furs, Operators, and Atlas Strategic) fame has announced Boeckner!, an eight-song solo collection. His first solo effort for Sub Pop will be released on March 15. The album was produced, engineered, and mixed by Randall Dunn at Circular Ruin in New York City and mastered by Heba Kadry. To celebrate the release, the songwriter has shared “Lose,” an energetic synth-rock epic filled with snapping drums and coldwave guitars.

Boeckner! also features drummer Matt Chamberlain, Medicine’s Brad Laner, who assisted with vocal arrangements and guitar throughout the record, and Jeremy Gaudet of labelmates Kiwi Jr., who co-wrote the song “Dead Tourists.” Regarding the album, Boeckner explained: “I think in a lot of ways in my mind I’m still playing in a punk band in Vancouver... Starting back when I was a teenager, my life in music has been trying to develop my own musical language, and this record is the beginning of presenting that.”
