Shannon & the Clams have announced The Moon Is in the Wrong Place, set to be released on May 10 via Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound. The record was produced by Auerbach, a longtime collaborator of the group, and was inspired by the tragic 2022 passing of Joe Haener, vocalist Shannon Shaw’s fiancé and a close friend of the band, who died in a horrific car accident leading up to the wedding.
“We all felt the urgency of making something that reckoned with this meteor that smashed into our planet,” keyboardist Will Sprott said in a press statement. “This is the most focused record we’ve ever done, as far as everything coming from a singular traumatic event.”
The band has shared the project’s first single, the title track, to accompany news of the album announcement. You can check out the video for that below, and pre-order The Moon Is in the Wrong Place here.
