Empress Of has announced that her fourth album, For Your Consideration, is set to arrive on March 22 via Giant Music. The news comes alongside the single “What’s Love,” which features MUNA. On the album closer, warm synths clear the way for Lorely Rodriguez, who sings, “I wasn’t trying, I wasn’t trying to meet anyone.” The single follows previously released For Your Consideration tracks “Kiss Me” with Rina Sawayama and “Femenine.”
The album evolved out of the title track, which came to Lorely after a bout of disappointment. “I was in love with a director and he was announcing his ‘For Your Consideration’ campaign for the Oscars,” she shared. “He took me up on a hill and said he was emotionally unavailable and he kind of broke my heart. I went into the studio that day and we wrote a song called ‘For Your Consideration’ that reflects on glam and Hollywood. That was the gateway for the album and it gave me the opportunity to explore broader themes.”
