Producer and DJ Peggy Gou has announced that her debut album, I Hear You, will arrive on June 7 via XL Recordings. To pop figurative bottles about the news, Gou has shared a new single, “1+1=11.” And look, I’m no genius, but that math ain’t adding up. Despite the obvious error I decided to give the track a listen and it’s a lovely piece of cathartic dancefloor hedonism, with a well-placed Amen break that gives the club beat a bit of gallop.
Regarding the new album, Gou said: “I Hear You is more than just my debut album. It embodies countless hours of dedication in my journey to create something timeless, and is a testament to the power of listening, to ourselves and to each other.”
The accompanying video for the new single was directed by Icelandic-Danish artist (and Gou’s longtime friend) Olafur Eliasson, who also stars in the visual and shows off some slick dance moves. Check that out below, and pre-order I Hear You here.
